Our Planning Work Program helps our community, transportation and development review planners know which projects to work on by prioritizing needs with the guidance and support of the Washington County Board of Commissioners.

The work program balances:

  • Staff and budget resources
  • Regulatory requirements (federal, state, regional mandates)
  • Community input and requests

Most of our planning work is required by state or local policies. This includes:

  • Development review
  • Comprehensive Plan amendments, transportation modeling, mapping, Transportation Development Tax administration and Statewide Transit Improvement Fund management
  • Planning efforts at the local, regional and state level, such as city planning for new urban areas and the Metro Regional Transportation Plan
  • Implementation of local, regional and state policies
  • Planning for major regional transportation projects like TV Highway, SW Corridor, tolling and the Westside Multimodal Study
